Project #2
- The goal here is to keep your observational drawing skills alive over the summer and to add to the breadth section of your portfolio.
- On my Ms. Jennings PINTREST board you will find exemplary works and video tutorials
Goals:
- In each of your three value studies
- Focus on Light: How can you use your shading skills to describe the following
- What is the direction of the light on the object?
-What intensity is the light. Dull light from a candle, intense light from noon sun, intense directional light from a flash light or camera flash?
- What type of surface is it hitting. Reflective, Dull?
- Where do the shadows hit the surface the object is sitting on? How dark or light are they?
- Composition: How will the object or objects fill the page in a visually appealing way
- Scale: How large of small is/are the objects in comparison to the page and each other? will you create the illusion of space by making an object very large and another very small? Will you scale up a very small object and make it feel very large?
- Cropping: Can I see the whole object? or is part of it beyond the edge of the page?
- Media: Show skillful use of one or more media. Each drawing should use a different media. Example: Ink, Graphite, Charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, alternative media: coffee, burnt stick from a camp fire.... anything you can think of or get your hands on that would make a mark on paper.
- Will you create smooth gradient value, experiment with cross contour, handwriting, scribbles, hatching, cross hatching......?
